Love over hate

This piece, Love Over Hate, was created for the I Never Promised You A Rose Garden exhibit at the TW Fine Art gallery in Palm Beach, FL. opening Saturday, November 27, 2021. Mike DePaola a high school friend of mine and founder of the gallery graciously asked me to enter a drawing for the exhibit. I’m was honored to be given this opportunity. The pen & ink piece you see here is my concept for the original theme he mentioned of guns and roses. For this piece I used my 17 year old son’s arm dropping the roses as reference I slightly exaggerated it’s proportion to the AR-15 to give it a more Michelangelo, hand of God feel. I chose an AR-15 because it is the type of weapon most often used in school shootings in the USA. The whole piece has several different meanings to me and I hope you the viewer.
